I pimped her up a little.
Monday I am going to the store to buy some fine wood.
I want to work more detailed and maybe smaller.
I want to search for fine woods like rosewood and ebony. I know wood is only suitable for painting if not too soft. The store was closed for three weeks or so, so I couldn't go earlier. I think it's cheaper than painting on canvas, and you can draw better on the wood too. So..I am very curious.

She was a lot of fun to do, experimenting with shadow and texture.
I am currently working on other "Grown Up" girls, still with a 'Kawaii Noir' feeling to it.

This is my latest.

I know, I should finish my old paintings before starting new ones. But the truth is, I am done with my old Candyskul style. Since I started Myspace I discovered so many artists painting in the 'baby art' style I just can't look at it anymore. I want to learn how to be a 'good' painter and go back to my roots, which means symbolist painting and 19-century illustration mixed with japanese influences. I always wanted to be a children book illustrator, but then, I discovered oils. There's so much more to discover with this medium. So, let's try and see where it will bring me.

I recently found out that I am in this book^^
It is a 'catalog raisonne' of the gallery Copro Nason in Los Angeles I've been involved with most.
I feel really flattered. Especially because Copro represents artists I admire, like Lori Earley, Sas Christian, Audrey Kawasaki, Marion Peck and ofcourse Mark Ryden. It is a beautiful book about the rise of Lowbrow Art, 400 shiny pages with fullcolor pictures of artwork and articles about Lowbrow and Pop Surrealism.
I have three pages in the book, including an artist statement in the list of published artists. So, I'm happy!

*busy painting*
I am doing a couple of portraits. I borrowed a camera from my parents, so you can have a look. I was working on this one today, it is not finished yet. I like the closer view better than the whole piece. Tomorrow I will post another portrait I am working on.

I have the flu _ _) for the second time in one month.
I feel terrible, and I know it's my own fault, because I wear summer shoes even when it's winter and I don't rest enough. But now I have to stay inside, can't go to work, had to cancel all appointments.
Not able to paint, either. Spending my time reading and drawing, I made this.
The colored one is inspired by fruits, I used pencils and neon markers for the colors, but unfortunately my scanner doesn't recognize the fluor colors.

I've bought new shoes. I really love this color! Can't wait till spring.
It's my week off, so I can finally paint and work on my myspace and
site. The site is open, but I'm still working on the shop. I uploaded my drawings at myspace (new ones too). I want to do more doodles on cute paper and collages perhaps.
Working on three new paintings, showing soon. *^-^*

I am building on a new site. Take a sneek preview here
You might have some broken links but you'll get the idea. Hopefully things will be online after the weekend.
I will add a small shop with giclee prints (probably in association with Cabinodd ) and I will design some soft toys in my artstyle.
I also -nearly- finished ( Plasterland )
I am working on two paintings now, but I can't paint everyday so the production is rather slow.
But that's ok, as long as I am pleased with the result.

Reed Anderson deconstructs, reconstructs, paints, collages and silk screens his works on paper: they can hardly be considered drawings. His highly active process is at once intuitive and deliberate. Images, such as elaborate flora and fauna, are cut into the paper. The paper is then folded and painted, thus stenciling mirror images which create a complex weaving of positive and negative.

Sorry for the delay in updating! I've been quite busy with everything.
I've been contacted by Nookart , a business in cute merchandising. They want to print some of my art and new designs on their products, like bags, purses and pluchies. I am very happy, because this will give a new direction to my art.
They work with wellknown artists like Fawn , Liz McGrath , Lisa Petrucci and some of my favorite Japanese designers, like Marichan and Emma . I feel very honored! There are lots of products on this site I would love to have myself *^_^*
I am working on some sketches and ideas now and will keep you updated. I'm glad, because I think art in a gallery is always very 'static' and I like art to be less pretentious and all over the place. I keep you updated about this! *happy*

This is a little pendrawing as a sketch for a large painting including lots of kawaii elements.
I doodle lots of ideas in my notebooks. I started the first layer but it took me the whole afternoon to get the drawings on the canvas.
I will work on it bit by bit and give some sneak peeks soon.

I had a wonderful weekend partying and dancing with some friends.
I sleep a lot and I have weird dreams.
I ( paint ) a lot, petite works, large works with lots of figures and a commission.
I watch too much movies. I surf too much on the internet.
I gave myself a paid account just to upload more icon pictures 0_o. And a bit to support Livejournal because I love Livejournal deeply:)
I miss Junko. When will she come up with her new comic?
